MdM Biography

Maria do Mar Guinle has been working with curatorial and advisory projects focused on Brazilian contemporary art since 2008 when she organized her first exhibition Paper Trail: 15 Brazilian Artists, at Allsopp Contemporary. In this exhibition she presented works by important artists such as Cabelo,  Laura Lima, Sandra Cinto, Daniel Senise, Jarbas Lopes amongst others. For some of the emerging artists at the time who have since become an integral part of the scene, this was their first exhibition abroad and represented an extremely important step in their international careers. This holds true for Pedro Varela, Maria Laet and Daniel Zarvos. Works were placed in the most important collections in London. In 2009 Guinle launched her artist representation and advisory company See Art and Advisory based in Paris where she continued to work in partnership with galleries and institutions. In 2012 she opened MdM Gallery (ex-11bis) in Paris, where she exhibits some of the most important Brazilian contemporary artists today, such as Carlos Vergara, Brígida Baltar, Pedro Varela, Ana Holck, Maria Laet as well as launching new emerging talent such as Ala d’Amico and Adriano Melhem.
